Things To Do in Atlanta This Weekend

It’s time to plan the weekend. Whether you’re looking for culture picks, family fun or live music, we’ve got the top weekend things to do in Atlanta.

Carol’s Picks
Carol is the ATL Insider’s culture vulture. If there is a new exhibit in town or a new show on the stage, Carol is the first to know about it.

  • Atlanta Ballet Presents Bach to Broadway , Friday, May 11 through Sunday, May 13
One word: Gershwin. Imagine the amazing dancers of the ballet spinning and pirouetting to the tunes of the inimitable George Gershwin. As if that wouldn’t be enough, Bach will be there, too. Can’t think of one reason not to go.
  • Twilight Jazz at Atlantic Station, Fridays through May 25
In the lead up to Memorial Day’s Atlanta Jazz Festival, enjoy jazz under the stars with top Atlanta jazz musicians. Admission is free, and you may purchase food and drinks. It sounds like a perfect way to say, “TGIF.”

Joleen’s Picks
Joleen is a work-at-home mom to a 5-year-old son. She and her family live in the ‘burbs but enjoy regularly traveling into the city for family-friendly fun and adventure.

  • Xperimental Puppetry Theatre, Thursday, May 10 through Sunday, May 13
If you’re looking for a fun and unique date night idea this weekend, this is for you. This annual program at the Center for Puppetry Arts offers professional and emerging artists the opportunity to create original puppet theater for adult audiences. Sounds like a lot of fun! Preschool aged kiddos and their families will love this opportunity to meet some of their favorite Sesame Street characters, like Elmo and Abby Cadabby. Enjoy a free 15-minute show full of stories and songs, meet and greets, digital activity stations and photo opportunities.

Tommy’s Picks
Tommy is a young professional keeping an eye out for the city’s liveliest happenings.

Kygo, Marshmello, Zedd, Ludacris, Seven Lions, Borgore and more. Catch the biggest hip-hop and electronic musicians of today at Central Park all weekend long.
